WHO WE ARE

The Climate Reality Project: Greater Austin Chapter began in 2017. It shares the Hill Country region with the San Antonio Chapter. Texas has four chapters chartered within The Climate Reality Project: Greater Austin, San Antonio, DFW, and Houston.

These four Texas chapters work closely together to help shape climate action and education within Texas and to effect change on a national and global level.

Our goal is to build the Austin Chapter to better serve the needs of our community and to help provide the resources and training that can save Texas and our planet from the potentially catastrophic effects of climate change caused by human activity.

The mission of the Greater Austin Chapter is to make urgent action on the global climate crisis a reality at every level of society in Texas. Our presentations and our direct actions aim to build a mass movement in support of change.

Indigenous Land Acknowledgement
Greater Austin Chapter

We, at the Climate Reality Greater Austin Chapter, acknowledge the ongoing harm caused by colonialism and white supremacy perpetuated in Texas. Indigenous communities have suffered genocides and forced removals from their lands. We recognize that we all are standing on lands stolen from Indigenous people.

We are committed to cultivating mindfulness around the history of native lands and communities through continuous education, participation, and active listening.

Climate Reality Project endorses the Jemez Principles for Democratic Organizing
The Greater Austin Chapter actively subscribes to these principles and much of our vitality and success derives from them:
